Development studio · Fully remote

Take a deep breath.
I’ve got your back (and front).

I’m Charles-Antoine Alba, a senior developer for more than ten years. I take your product from first idea to launch day: on my own, with a team of developers or with AI agents, depending on what the project needs. Either way, I make the calls, and nothing ships until I’ve read it.

What I do

One person to answer to, from the idea to launch day.

  1. 01

    Web and mobile development

Web and mobile apps, dashboards, intranets and extranets, design systems. Built in React and TypeScript, with clean code your team can pick up and keep growing without me.

  2. 02

    Product design

An option when the project calls for it: I design the flows and screens in Figma, then build them myself. Already have a designer? I’ll work from their mockups.

  3. 03

    Tech lead

I lead your developers: I set the architecture and the coding standards, review pull requests and help everyone get better. I did exactly that for four years at Signally, with five developers and a designer.

  4. 04

    From project to delivery

Bring a project, a spec or just an idea. I frame the need, design the architecture and set the rules. When it fits, AI agents speed up the execution, and I review and polish every piece before it ships. You get the speed without the mess.

OVHcloud

Senior developer, design system
Since March 2025

The component gallery of the OVHcloud Design System

OVHcloud’s open-source component library, used by their product teams and open to the community.

  • I build and maintain the components, with their documentation and tests
  • I helped decide on the move from Stencil web components to React and TypeScript, then carried it out
  • I help the rest of the company’s teams integrate the design system
  • We adapt it to how people now build: an MCP server, llms.txt, AI-assisted integration, codemods for upgrades

How I work

I lead developers. Now I lead agents too.

At Signally I led five developers and a designer. Since 2023 I’ve worked with AI every day, first with Cursor, and for over a year now with Claude Code.

The agents are fast, but they don’t decide anything. I pin down the need, pick the architecture, set the standards, and I read every line before it goes live. AI makes me quicker, not sloppier, and it frees time for what usually gets cut: useful tests and clean documentation. For you, that means a project that moves fast, and one senior person accountable for the result.

Example: one feature, eight agents, one precise task each.Animated example. Around one project, I give precise tasks to eight specialised AI agents: front end, API, performance, unit tests, end-to-end tests, accessibility, design system and documentation. They work in parallel and I review everything. The feature ships with its code, useful tests and clean documentation.
  1. 01

    A call

You tell me about your idea, not just the spec. It’s free, and you leave with a concrete first direction: what’s doable, how, and where to start.

  2. 02

    A plan

We choose the solution together. Then a clear scope and timeline, before any commitment.

  3. 03

    Delivery

Regular demos to watch it take shape, clean code, and a handover your team can pick up.

About

Charles-Antoine, nice to meet you.

Charles-Antoine Alba showing a project to two clients on his laptop

I trained at 42 and I’ve been a front-end developer and product designer ever since. I went independent in 2018, and by 2025 the work had grown enough to become a company: Variables.

The idea hasn’t changed: you work directly with the person who designs and builds your product. No middleman, no account manager rephrasing things, so nothing gets lost between what you ask for and what gets built. I work fully remotely, in English or in French.

Back-end

What clients say

“His technical expertise and grasp of UX turned our application into a smooth, appealing experience. Real talent, great responsiveness and professionalism. Deadlines were met, which is worth pointing out!”
Nicolas – Signally
“An excellent command of front-end technologies, and he saved us from a disaster after another freelancer let us down. Very available, even on weekends and late at night, he quickly made up the delay we were building up. Icing on the cake: he is great to work with and has a good sense of humour!”
Marouane – Unslashed Labs
“Very responsive in helping us scope the engagement precisely, and in carrying out the mission. Deadlines were fully respected, which mattered a lot to us.”
Stéphane – Solariohm
